Partners in Preservation for the Wisconsin Lake Michigan Basin: Greenprint

Organization: Gathering Waters Conservancy

Lake/River Basin: Lake Michigan

Project Description: Gathering Waters Conservancy and the Lake Michigan Shorelands Alliance (nine land trusts working in Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan basin, or LMSA) are partnered with the Trust for Public Land (TPL) to greenprint Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan basin. A greenprint is a comprehensive conservation plan created using both science (ecosystem data and GIS mapping tools) and community values around conservation. The greenprinting process is unique because it incorporates multiple disciplines. The outcome will include maps, a brochure and other materials that help identify the best opportunities for land conservation – with real, on-the-ground work to follow by LMSA member land trusts in the coming years.
