Improving Fish Passage and Habitat

Organization: Conservation Resource Alliance

Lake/River Basin: Lake Michigan

Project Description: The Conservation Resource Alliance is removing the deteriorated Manton Millpond Dam and restoring the stretch of Manton/Cedar Creek impounded by the dam located in Manton, Michigan (Wexford County). The removal of the dam will benefit the local environment by removing an impediment to fish passage, as well as a source of thermal pollution which is limiting wild salmonid populations below the dam. Project partners include the City of Manton, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, USDA-NRCS, and local Trout Unlimited chapters.
